Fresh Strawberry Cake

Celebrate the strawberry season with Fresh Strawberry Cake. Although frozen strawberries can be used in this recipe, nothing beats the flavor of fresh locally grown strawberries.  Frost the cake with Strawberry Cream Frosting, or simply top with a dollop of whipping cream if you prefer.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; whisk together to mix. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, combine butter and granulated sugar; cream together until mixture appears light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat until thoroughly mixed. Add pureed strawberries and vanilla, beat until mixed.

  4. Alternately add some of the flour mixture, and the buttermilk to the batter, beginning and ending with the flour mixture, and stirring just until blended.
