Along with baking scrumptious treats and desserts, I’ve always loved needlecraft and sewing.
I must have this creative gene from my Mom and Grandma. Both my Grandma and Mom were family-famous for their love of making delicious pies. I have my Grandmothers Singer treadle sewing machine, which still works, although I prefer my newer style Pfaff sewing machine!! I remember my Grandma sitting at this sewing machine making things, as a little girl I was fascinated at how fast she could sew using a treadle. My Mom did some sewing but mostly she loved to knit and crochet. I remember when I was around 5 or 6 and getting a new doll for Christmas and along with the doll my Mom surprised me with an entire wardrobe for the doll she had secretly made when I wasn’t looking.
Over the years I’ve sewn, crocheted, cross-stitched, and made quilts. At this time I’ve pretty much settled into baking and quilting, although I’m still open at anytime to something new.
My first quilts started with block quilt patterns, and I’ve since expanded to paper-pieced and applique quilts. Most of my quilts seem to end up looking like scrap quilts: I love to use a variety of color and pattern in my fabric selection, and yes this yields a big fabric stash to try and use up!
I’d like to share my love of quilting here, I hope you enjoy them too!!
